Even through various technological changes, there has always been a place for it. It features on TV, social media, dedicated platforms like YouTube, and this means that investing money into a piece of marketing content in this area is going to go a long way.

However, how do you make sure that your money is being spent in the best way? Understanding what an opportunity this is for your brand means getting a good idea of the targets that you want to hit, making sure that no moment of your video content is wasted.

Convey Vital Information

An advantage that a video has over other forms of marketing is how dynamic it is. Whether it’s your focus or not, there’s a story being told here, something that your audiences are going to take away about what your brand is and how it can fit into their life. Therefore, this is an opportunity to convey some of your values—either directly, or subtly through imagery and insinuation.

For example, say you value your ability to protect customer data, and offer a refined modern platform equipped with everything from an open source API gateway to cutting-edge features that make for a more convenient usage—this is your time to express that. Less directly, you might want to make yourself known as a business that strives toward something such as sustainability, without making it look like it’s hollow and just a marketing ploy.

Establish Your Tone of Voice

Some businesses are going to use their video content as an opportunity to connect with their audiences and showcase what differentiates them from their competitors. Similarly, you might want to use it as a means of connecting to your audience by getting on the same wavelength as them. Do you see yourself as a sleek, minimalist brand that retains its composure? As tempted as you might be to go for more eye-catching visuals, a less busy video, and something that instead works in this aesthetic will help you stay within your brand identity.

Going overboard on the mania of one might help you to grab attention initially, but it could also prove to be obnoxious to some people, making it a risky tactic, and one that will work for some brands more than others.

Online Presence

As stated previously, there are so many places for video content in the modern world. One piece of video content can be cut up and re-edited to fit a variety of formats. Perhaps the full version airs in cinemas before a film starts. However, a condensed version can just as easily fit on banner ads or social media feeds. Even those who don’t directly engage with the video are going to gain an awareness of it and its connection to your brand, and then an impression will have been made—reaching people who might not have heard of you before this.

A Beginner’s Guide To Social Media

New to the world of social media? It can be daunting at first, especially as it seems like such a large part of the modern world, but you should know that it is never too late to start. While it can take a while to get the hang of, you should soon see the benefits of social media and enjoy connecting with everyone in your life online. For many people, social media is a great way to maintain relationships and keep in touch with those people that you care for but do not get to see often enough. So, what are some tips for getting started with social media?

Take Time Exploring Different Platforms

First, you should spend some time exploring the different platforms. These days, there are many different social media platforms, and they each have their own purpose. Therefore, it is a good idea to spend some time on each one to find one or a few that you like the look of. The main options right now include:

Facebook

Twitter

Instagram

LinkedIn

Snapchat

TikTok

Learn To Save Posts

Every now and then, you might come across that you want to save. There are different ways to do this on each platform, so you should look this up so that you know what you need to do if you want to save a post. In some cases, it is not always easy to do. With Snapchat, for example, pictures and videos online last 24 hours before disappearing. You can take a screenshot or record a video, but you should know that the app will tell the poster if you do this, so you may want to check with them first. You can then take a screen recording and then use an app to send the video to your Mac (there is no Snapchat app on Mac). You can learn more about this process here https://setapp.com/how-to/save-snapchat-videos.

Stay Safe

Social media can be great fun and a good way to keep in touch with people, but you do need to be aware of the dangers. Inevitably, social media can be a dangerous place, and you need to learn how to use it safely. This should include adjusting the privacy information so that you can control who sees your posts and is able to interact with you. You should also set random, complex passwords and change these on a regular basis. There are also social media scams to be aware of. When you know how to use these platforms safely, you can use them with confidence and enjoy all of the benefits that they can bring.

Fill In Your Profile Information

When creating your accounts on different social media channels, you should take the time to properly fill in your profile information. This will boost your credibility online and make it easier to connect with people. One of the most important steps will be picking a profile picture - this should be one that clearly shows your face with an eye-catching background. Your profile picture will be seen whenever you post, so you want it to be a good representation of who you are.

Find Friends & Family

Once you have your profile information all filled in, you will want to start finding friends, family and other people that you know. Often, this is easy enough as you can automatically find people from your contacts list, but there may also be other people to find as well. It is amazing some of the people from your life that you can find on social media, and it might be an opportunity to reconnect with people that you had lost contact with. Of course, you may be a more private person and want to limit yourself to a small group of people, and there is nothing wrong with this.

Find New Communities

In addition to the people that you know, social media can also be a great tool for meeting new people and this is one of the best aspects of it (especially at a time when people spend a lot more time at home). You can meet new people by finding online communities to join, such as a group for people in your town or city.

Think Carefully Before Posting

When it comes to posting your own content, you should always think twice before hitting the send button. Social media gives you a chance to share your thoughts, photos, and opinions with the world, but this also means that you need to be sensible. You should be respectful, mindful and avoid posting anything that could cause offense. Additionally, you might not want to post anything that is too personal, such as photos of your kids. You also need to think about how often you post - you do not want to spam your followers with multiple posts each day.

Comment On Other People’s Posts

You should share your own content with your followers, but you also should be engaging with other people’s posts (people will then be more likely to comment on your own posts). Social media is all about interaction, so you should like posts, ask questions and come up with comments that will help you to create a deeper connection with the poster. These days, this can be a great way to strengthen and maintain real-life relationships.

Keep It Lighthearted

Finally, you should try and keep it lighthearted on social media and use it as a positive way to engage with others. In recent years, there has been a lot more misinformation, divisive content, hatred, and trolls on social media, and this is not what the platforms were designed for.

Hopefully, the advice in this post will be useful and help you to get started on social media. It is never too late to start using social media, and it can be a great way to connect with people and maintain relationships, but you also need to know the best ways to use these platforms for a positive experience.

Why is cloud manufacturing revolutionizing the industry?

For many, the word "manufacturing" brings images of large factories with assembly lines operated by scores of workers. However, that image is rapidly changing thanks to the advent of cloud manufacturing. Cloud manufacturing is a term used to describe the use of cloud-based technologies and services in the manufacturing sector. It has numerous advantages over traditional methods, including increased efficiency, cost savings, and flexibility. As more businesses switch to cloud manufacturing, it is quickly becoming the gold standard for this industry.

What is cloud manufacturing, and how does it work?

The term "cloud" must first be understood to understand cloud manufacturing fully. Said, the cloud is a network of servers used to store, manage, and process data. These servers are located in data centres worldwide and connected via the internet. Cloud-based services allow users to access these servers and their data from any location with an internet connection.

Cloud manufacturing takes advantage of this technology to manage all aspects of the manufacturing process, from design and development to production and delivery. Additionally, they can access this data from anywhere, making it easier to manage their manufacturing operations.

What are the benefits of cloud manufacturing?

Many advantages cloud manufacturing offers over traditional methods. Perhaps the most significant is increased efficiency. With all data kept in one location, businesses can more easily track progress and identify bottlenecks. It enables them to make real-time modifications rather than waiting for things to go wrong before making corrections. As a result, businesses can avoid costly delays and disruptions.

In addition to increased efficiency, cloud manufacturing also offers cost savings. Because all data is stored off-site, businesses can save on infrastructure costs, such as server hardware and software. They can also reduce their energy consumption using data centres powered by renewable energy sources.

Finally, cloud manufacturing is much more flexible than traditional methods. With all data stored in the cloud, businesses can quickly scale up or down as needed. They can also quickly adapt to changing market conditions and customer demands. This flexibility is critical in today's ever-changing business environment.

How cloud manufacturing is changing the industry landscape

Cloud manufacturing is having a profound impact on the manufacturing industry. The transition from mass production to personalization is perhaps the most noticeable change. With traditional manufacturing methods, businesses typically produce large quantities of a single product. This "one size fits all" approach is no longer effective in today's market, where customers increasingly demand personalized products.

With cloud manufacturing, businesses can quickly produce small quantities of customized products. It allows them to meet customer needs better and stay ahead of the competition. Additionally, it enables businesses to enter new markets and serve new customer segments.

Another significant change that cloud manufacturing is driving is the move from local to global production. Thanks to the internet, businesses can now connect with suppliers and customers worldwide. It has opened up new opportunities for manufacturing businesses, which can now source materials and sell products globally.

Finally, cloud manufacturing makes it easier for businesses to embrace new technologies. With all data stored in the cloud, businesses can easily take advantage of the latest advances in artificial intelligence, 3D printing, and other cutting-edge technologies. It allows them to stay ahead of the competition and maintain a competitive edge.

Challenges that companies face when implementing cloud manufacturing

Despite all of its advantages, cloud manufacturing is not without its challenges. Perhaps the most significant challenge is security. Because all data is stored off-site, businesses must be sure to choose a reputable and secure cloud service provider. Additionally, they must implement adequate security measures to protect their data from cyber-attacks.

Another challenge that companies face when implementing cloud manufacturing is cost. While there are many cost savings associated with this approach, the upfront investment can be substantial. Additionally, businesses need to have the necessary IT infrastructure in place to support a cloud-based system.

Finally, companies need to carefully consider the impact that cloud manufacturing will have on their existing operations. It includes assessing their workforce's skills and ensuring they have the necessary training to use the new system. Additionally, businesses must consider integrating cloud manufacturing into their existing supply chain.

Despite these challenges, cloud manufacturing is revolutionizing the industry and offers many advantages for businesses. Those who can successfully implement this approach will be well-positioned to stay ahead of the competition and meet the needs of their customers.

The future of cloud manufacturing

Cloud manufacturing is still in its early stages, but it is already profoundly impacting the manufacturing industry. In the future, this impact is only going to become more pronounced. As businesses continue to embrace this approach, we will see more customization, global production, and the use of cutting-edge technologies. Additionally, the cost of cloud manufacturing will continue to decline as technology improves and becomes more widely adopted.

As cloud manufacturing becomes more commonplace, we will also see new business models emerge. For example, we could see an increase in on-demand manufacturing, where businesses only produce products when ordered. It could significantly impact inventory management and lead to even more significant cost savings.

The future of cloud manufacturing is bright, and businesses embracing this approach will be well-positioned for success. Those who do not comply will almost certainly find themselves at a competitive disadvantage.

YouTube counting views - what you should know

How exactly does YouTube count views? It is quite tricky...

This is what official YouTube guides writes:

YouTube engagement metrics (views, likes, dislikes, and subscriptions) reflect how many times a video or channel has been interacted with. These metrics can be an important measure of your video or channel’s overall popularity.

We want to make sure that your metrics are high quality and come from actual humans and not computer programs. It takes our systems some time to figure out which views, likes, dislikes, and subscriptions are legitimate.

Note: It may take time for your metrics to appear in our system during the first few hours your video is published.

Of course, from the YouTube side, it is super important to track only real, not fake views.

If you check YouTube views in different YouTube platforms - e.g. YouTube.com, YouTube Studio, YouTube real-time analytics - the number can be different.

How YouTube counts views?

Probably, only YouTube engineers can tell you the answer. There are different approaches.

Some articles say that a YouTube view is only counted when:

A user intentionally initiates the watching of a video.

The user watches it on the platform for at least 30 seconds.

If you skip through a video but the total time you spend watching is more than 30 seconds, the view will count too. If you watch for less than 30 seconds, it probably won’t.

Also, if you watch same video more than 5 times per day - these views will stop counting.

YouTube won't count views

YouTube won’t count a watch from a user who leaves spam comments on videos.

YouTube will not count the views of videos that are embedded in a page and autostart.

If there are patterns of a bot behaviour.

Even for YouTube it is quite hard to completely distinguish human and bot views. Therefore, in Analytics you will see "Estimated views". Your real views number will be available only when AdSense sends a payment, adjusted to the non-fake views.

To see my YouTube views, I use Analytics in YouTube studio app.

Note that views on the live website can be different from internal views.

Internal counter usually shows the real number, while number of views on youtube.com can be a bit delayed. This is especially true for videos with a lot of views.

Do playlist views count on YouTube?

So if a video is watched inside of a playlist it is still a normal view on YouTube.

If someone specifically watched your playlist - that will count as a playlist view.

Playlist views are separate metric and don't count as normal YouTube views.

How many views do you need for a YouTube Partner Program?

You need 4000 watched hours during last 12 months.

So, it depends what is your average view duration is. A good ratio can be around 3 minutes of watched content for 1 view.

How YouTube shorts views are counted?

You see views from YouTube shorts in the same Analytics tab as regular views. Just you will see that source is different.

Also, views from YouTube shorts don't count towards YPP eligibility.

Can you filter YouTube views?

Is there a way to not count specific views? For example, you don't want YouTube to count views from yourself or from a specific IP. I don't think it is possible at the moment. You can do this setup in Google Analytics, but not YouTube.

Other social media

Here is an overview of what is considered a view on other social networks.

Facebook: 3 seconds or more

Instagram / IGTV: 3 seconds or more

LinkedIn: 2 seconds or more

YouTube: 30 seconds or more

Tiktok: 0.1 seconds i.e. each time a video starts

Twitter: 2 seconds

As you can see, YouTube has one of the strictest policies regarding views.

Tools

SocialBlade is one of the best tools to count YouTube views - both for your channel or other channels. It gives a pretty accurate estimate of views and revenue for all YouTube channels.

How important are YouTube views?

But, does it really matter how many views you get? Of course, it is absolutely amazing to have millions of views.

For example, to get your video boosted in YouTube algorithm, YouTube watch time matters more.

It is all about high-quality, highly-engaged, legitimate views with a long watch time. You should optimize your content for that.

YouTube video disclaimers - what you should know?

What is a YouTube disclaimer?

A YouTube disclaimer is a statement placed usually in the video’s description that helps reduce legal liabilities or provide protection for original content.

When do you need a disclaimer on YouTube?

You might need a disclaimer on YouTube, if:

your provide some advice;

YouTube

Andrii

What is a YouTube disclaimer?

A YouTube disclaimer is a statement placed usually in the video’s description that helps reduce legal liabilities or provide protection for original content.

When do you need a disclaimer on YouTube?

You might need a disclaimer on YouTube, if:

your provide some advice;

your video features other people's intellectual property;

your video features your own copyrighted materials.

Types of YouTube disclaimers

YouTube copyright disclaimer

YouTube fair use disclaimer

YouTube disclaimer for music

YouTube liability disclaimer

Why you need a YouTube disclaimer?

A YouTube disclaimer can help protect you and your content. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing.”

Or alternatively:

"This channel and I do not claim any right over any of the graphics, images, songs used in this video. All rights reserved to the respective copyright owners."

Be careful with YouTube fair use disclaimer. Ideally, you'd need to get a permit from the rights holder. Copyright disclaimers sometimes can be useless. They can't substitute a permit. And if you got caught by content owners, you would be admitting that you're aware of having violated their copyright, still, you're utterly indifferent to their opinion on the fact you should get permission. Which, ethically speaking, is worse than "accidentally" violating someone's copyright.

Source

Getting permission to use copyrighted materials from the copyright’s owner is the safest way to use someone else’s intellectual property.

Fair use disclaimer

Imagine you are a YouTube blogger and creating a video-review of other YouTube content.

According to the 107th section of the Copyright Act - you can do that on YouTube if you are commenting, criticizing or some other purposes with that video.

Section 107 of the Copyright Act states that copyrighted materials can be fairly used for the following purposes:

Criticism

Comment

Reporting

Teaching

Research and scholarship

If you use copyrighted materials for any of the above purposes, you should post a copyright disclaimer or a fair use disclaimer that states that you’re sampling copyrighted works under the protection of Section 107 of the Copyright Act.

Having this disclaimer can help you combat a copyright infringement complaint.
First, it is a default setting for all your videos. So, whenever, you upload a new video – you can have some sections pre-filled – for example, description, tags and so on.

Second, you can set default settings for your whole YouTube channel – e.g. category, tags and so on.
Of course you can always override these defaults on individual videos.

Overall, it can be really handy!

YouTube upload defaults allow to set default information for future uploads.

Upload defaults are settings that are applied to all of your web uploads according to your choices. And it would get so much traction. However, there is a history, why it is not possible.

Looks like, it is connected to Google+. By tagging other users in the comment section, you would be tagging their Google+ profile.

However, Google+ saw a low percentage of user engagement and difficulties in meeting consumer’s expectations. Thereby, Google was compelled to shut down its consumer version of Google+ in March 2019. That means YouTube functionalities built with Google+ were also impacted, including the tagging feature.

Also, in my experience with Google+ tagging feature became really a spam feature. Creators receive the majority of the revenue that is recognized by Google.

Purchase limits

You can spend up to $500 USD per day, or $2,000 USD (or the equivalent in your local currency) per week on:

Super Chats

Super Stickers

Super Thanks, all 3 combined

If a comment that was automatically published with your Super Thanks purchase is deleted, moderated, or removed, you won’t get a refund. Also, Super Thanks voluntary payments are non-refundable.

Super Thanks revenue

Super Thanks revenue share is the same as Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Channel Memberships.

You'll receive Super Thanks revenue in the same way that you receive ad revenue with AdSense.

So, now instead of "Like, comment, subscribe", you should add "Like, comment, subscribe and super thanks!"

Can you generate a lot of additional revenue with Super Thanks? It depends a lot on your channel and audience engagement. Some channels were able to generate 15% more revenue using Super Thanks.

Here is a case story from an early user of Super Thanks:

"Having a built-in feature like Super Thanks ensures that my viewers can show their love and support while watching a video -- without interrupting their viewing. It nicely augments Super Stickers and Super Chat by allowing folks who are watching a replay of a livestream to still feel like they’re being seen (thanks to the purchase animation) and also thanks to the comment that it leaves."

Can you estimated if you channel will be successful with Super Thanks? I think the way to test it is with Memberships. If you enabled YouTube Memberships and there are active members of your YouTube channel, then probably Super Thanks will also work out.

To be successful with ST, you need to have a highly engaged audience, which receives a great advice/education/entertainment from your content and is ready to pay for more.

My Experience with Super Thanks

My YouTube channel is eligible for Super Thanks, however this feature is not available yet.

So, I reached out to YouTube Creator Support.

So, as you can see, even if you are eligible for Super Thanks - it is still in beta and may not be available for you.
When you think of YouTube, most people mean posting videos.

But, recently YouTube introduced a Community tab and now you can create text posts, image posts, polls on YouTube. This way you can get additional exposure for your videos, get more views, increase engagement with your audience.

You have some text announcement, cool image to share? You don’t need to leave YouTube for Twitter, Facebook or Instagram anymore. You can do it on YouTube.

So, let’s dive into it.

Become a Pro YouTuber with Online Hikes membership

YouTube posts or polls eligibility

There are some requirements to create a post or poll on YouTube.

And also how to comment a specific time in YouTube video via Timed comments - a new feature in beta.

Via YouTube timestamps you can enable Video Chapters, which will help users to better navigate through your videos, save time and watch only the part they are interested in - not the whole video.

What are YouTube timestamps?

Timestamps are links to parts of your YouTube video, which can be placed either in YouTube descriptions or comments.

Something like this:

0:01 intro
0:10 main part
0:25 end

Only you as a creator can add timestamps in descriptions, but all your viewers can add timestamps in the comments.

Why you need YouTube timestamps?

There are many use cases, but basically it saves so much time.

For example, if the video is super long, but you are interested only in a specific part of it - with a time-stamp you can quickly jump to that part of the video.

If there is a cool funny moment in the video usually viewers will leave a timestamp in the comments - so everyone else can jump there.

If you are a creator - you can times-stamp chapters of your video in the comment and then pin that comment to the top.

Famous Russian YouTuber - Vdud - does it with all of his interviews.

Uploaded YouTube videos are longer than ever before, and keeping viewers engaged from start to finish can be extremely challenging. Especially in today’s fast-paced environment where many of us aren’t willing, or simply don’t have the time to sit through a 10 to 20 minute video. You can go through your YouTube Analytics and check the average view duration. Very rarely it can exceed 3 minutes.

Adding chapters or timestamps to your YouTube videos provides users the option to skip to relevant parts and therefore you value viewers' time.

Also, timestamps in YouTube are beneficial for SEO. YouTube Video Chapters Enhance The User Experience

When your video is shown in search results, a feature called Key Moments highlights the chapters of your videos. Users can quickly scan these chapters and immediately know what your video is about before they even click on it.

It can be a good idea to timestamp both in YouTube description and comment section - some people prefer descriptions, other - comments.

How to add timestamps in YouTube description?

So, while you uploading your video, just add timestamps in description, for example:

0:01 intro
0:10 main part
0:25 end

Use this format: hours:minutes:seconds

Actually, it can be a good idea to first upload video and then add timestamps while you are editing it. This way it is much easier to manage timestamps.

I would follow this process with adding timestamps in the video:

Play your YouTube video and stop it at relevant segments

Make a note of the time

Now add these notes and time via the YouTube description area or the comment

Save and then check the live video and make sure YouTube links now work

Yeah, it can be a tedious process for longer videos...

If you know a tool, which helps with YouTube timestamping - leave it in the comments below. :)

How to add comment timestamps in YouTube?

After you added timestamps in description - you can copy them to comments.

So, your video should be already uploaded.

Log in with your creator account to youtube.com

Go to the video comment section and paste timestamps.

3. From this menu you can also edit your timestamps - if something changes.

It is also possible to add timestamps in YouTube mobile app.

Timestamps in Description or Pinned Comment - which one is better?

So, where should you add your table of content timestamps - in a comment section (pinned comment) or a description.

I would give a priority to description - this way YouTube can generate Video Chapters (I describe it below).

But, viewers rarely open YouTube descriptions, especially on mobile. Comments have a much higher engagement. So, if you want your timestamps be useful for viewers - leave it in the comments.

Bottom line: I would recommend to leave content timestamps both in the description (to generate Video Chapters) and in the comments - better for users.

YouTube timed comments

YouTube is working on a new feature - YouTube timed comments (beta).

The idea is that you can leave comments only related to a specific timestamp/moment in the video. If you ever used SoundCloud - it is a very similar feature.

Here is how it looks in SoundCloud.

To see if timed comments are available to you, just open YouTube mobile app, go to the comments filter in the top right and look for Timed comments.

How timed comments are connected to YouTube timestamps?

So, if you leave a timestamp in a YouTube comment, then this comment will be filtered in Timed comments section - beta.

By clicking on Timed comments, you will see all the comments about a specific time in the video.

YouTube timestamps and Video Chapters

There is a new exciting feature in YouTube, where you can create Video Chapters, based on your timestamps.

Video Chapters break up a video into sections, each with an individual preview. Video chapters add info and context to each portion of the video and let you easily rewatch different parts of the video. You can view Video Chapters in this example.

Creators can add their own video chapters for each uploaded video or rely on automatic video chapters. Creators can also opt out of automatic video chapters in YouTube Studio.

YouTube Video Chapters on Desktop

YouTube video chapters on mobile

To add your own video chapters:

Sign in to YouTube Studio on your computer.

Go to the video you want to edit.

Select EDIT VIDEO under the video.

In the “Description” box of the “Video details” page, add a list of timestamps and titles.

Make sure that the first timestamp you list starts with 00:00.

Your video should have at least three timestamps listed in ascending order.

The minimum length for video chapters is 10 seconds.

Note, video Chapters will only work with timestamps added in description, not in the comments...

Here is a video on how to add Chapters using Timestamps.

YouTube encourages you to use shorter, descriptive chapter titles, so that viewers can easily get an idea of what the chapter is about.

Once you're finished adding in chapters, save your changes. But, any video chapters entered into the description will override automatic video chapters.

How to timestamp YouTube URLs?

Another cool feature, is that you can link to a specific timed section of YouTube videos from other sites. It is possible to include links to specific chapter of YouTube video using this format:

Did you know that a lot of YouTube traffic can come via Search? It can be either YouTube search or Google search.

So, for example, if I search for VidCon 2019, I will see this result in Google Search. YouTube automatically generates key moments.

Of course, if you already added timestamps, key moments will be created on your timestamps.

Therefore, if users are searching for a specific keyword or segment in Google, they won't need to watch the whole video, but just the required part. On the one hand, this can reduce watch time for your videos, but on the other - your video will be shown to much more searches and users. Also, you will build trust for viewers as a high quality source of content, which cares about time.

Bottom line: adding YouTube timestamps will increase visibility and engagement of your YouTube video in Google Search results.

How to get YouTube Channel or User IDs?

For different purposes you might need either YouTube channel ID or YouTube video ID.
