YouTube Premium Lite
YouTube is testing a cheaper version of YouTube Premium package - YouTube Premium Lite.
It is available in limited countries.
YouTube Premium is $12 a month, and the service offers ad-free videos, background play on phones, and downloading videos (both for YouTube and YouTube Music).
But, the main reason more and more viewers are switching to YouTube Premium is because they don't want to see ads. So, YouTube Premium Lite is just about removing YouTube ads.
Premium Lite is currently being tested in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. You need to be located in these countries to access the service.
YouTube Premium Lite costs 6.99 euro per month. For example, in Denmark the price would be 69 DKK p/m (same price as YouTube Premium for Students) instead of 119 DKK for a YouTube Premium.
How to get access to YouTube Premium Lite?
You should be located in one of these countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
Can you get YouTube Premium Lite via VPN?
Can you change your location via IP and then get YouTube with no ads for a cheaper price? Not sure that will work.
Is YouTube Premium Lite available to everyone in these countries?
I can't find it in my account, however located in Denmark. So, probably, YouTube is slowly rolling it out to everyone.
You can change your location in Settings. However, this change won't enable YouTube Premium Lite by default.
How to enable YouTube Premium Lite?
Go to YouTube menu and click Purchases and Memberships.
If YouTube Premium Lite is available for you, it should be visible among offers on this screen.
